Planning Manager for the Department of Economics and Planning
The Department of Economics and Planning is responsible for the university's finances, planning functions, and procurement.
The department's mission is to work with both ongoing operational activities and with development and strategic issues within its areas of responsibility. The department consists of the units Accounting and Operational Economics and a staff. The role of Planning Manager is located within the department's staff. The department operates at Mid Sweden University's campuses in both Östersund and Sundsvall.
Job Responsibilities
We are looking for a skilled employee who can lead the work of the planning function. As Planning Manager, you have a strategic and coordinating role in driving and developing the university's work with planning, follow-up, and governance. You lead processes that create structure, clarity, and direction in close collaboration with university management, faculties, and administration. Collaboration with other higher education institutions is also central. You are responsible for ensuring compliance with laws in the planning and follow-up area and contributing to transparency in governance. Your tasks include planning and coordinating the preparation of the annual report and budget documentation. You will work in a team with an operational controller and closely with the budget coordinator. There is no personnel responsibility included in the position.
Your Background
We are looking for someone who has:
- A university degree in a relevant field for the position.
- Experience in leading planning, follow-up, and operational development.
- Good insight and understanding of government governance and audit requirements.
- Experience working at a university or college.
- You are expected to have a good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in both Swedish and English.
Your Qualities
Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities and your ability to collaborate at all levels.
As a person, you are development-oriented, have good judgment, and create good collaborations. The work requires you to have leadership ability, be communicative, and trustworthy with a talent for building relationships and networks. It is important that you have the ability to see contexts, the whole, and consequences. You strive to simplify work processes and reduce administration. You have good structure and plan your work in a purposeful manner.
Employment and Start Date
The position is a permanent full-time employment with a start date of 2026-04-01 or by agreement.
